THE LATEST REFINEMENTS IN A RIDING TRADITION SPRUNG FROM GENERATIONS OF FACTORY CUSTOMS.

It was 1991 when the world got its first look at a Dyna Glide series Harley. But the roots of these bikes go back much further, to the original factory customs. Motorcycles like the super glide. The low rider. The wide glide. Machines that were famous for original, genuine style. And a boundless appetite for tarmac.

It doesn't take long to notice that more than just the names live on in today's designs. Take a look. Or do yourself the ultimate favour. Ride one. As the unstressed, beating engine goes about its work, the feeling you get in the saddle is smooth and refined. That's the result of a two-point rubber isolation mounting system that soaks up the engine's vibrations before they reach the rider.

This is time-proven Harley-Davidson technology, and it makes any amount of miles feel good. Of course, it s also just one part of what makes these some of the best-riding Harleys ever built. The twin cam 88 powering the Dyna Glide is now in its third year, offer a development process that included 2 1/2 million miles of road testing. 1450cc strong, with a power band as thick as a wrestler's biceps. Rest assured, it's up for any kind of trip you want to take.

The transmission is solidly mated behind the engine, which adds to the rigidity of the Dyna Glide frame. The exceptional stiffness of the chassis is what gives the bike its special ability to peg the fun meter when the road gets curvy. We've also reworked the gearbox internals this year to make shifting smooth.

When it comes to translating awe-inspiring power into forward motion, we go with a belt final drive. It's cleaner, quieter and stronger than a chain or shaft. Our latest narrow Kevlar belt is stronger, so the only stretching is your arms to the bars.

Continuing the performance theme, you'll find some of our most advanced suspension systems in the Dyna Glide family. For 2001, we've also made improvements to the tyres, fuel gauge, fuse panel and the brains inside the self-cancelling turn signal system. Plus we have included a factory installed security system*. It's not only a better choice than standing on full-time guard duty; it's also incredible value.

Electronic security is one way to make your ride unquestionably your own. Another is to add a few custom touches. With genuine motor accessories you have plenty of options including a full line of performance parts developed in tandem with the twin cam 88 motor. Continuing once again the performance theme. Then again, for many riders that's what owning a Dyna Glide is all about.
